Directions

    Activate yeast by mixing warm water, 1 tbsp sugar, and yeast. Let sit for a few minutes until foamy.

    Warm milk and melt butter together.

    Add remaining sugar to the milk mixture and whisk until dissolved.

    Pour the milk mixture into the yeast mixture.

    Add half the flour to the mixture.

    Using a KitchenAid mixer with a dough hook, mix on speed 2 for about a minute and a half.

    Add salt and the remaining flour. Mix for another minute or two.

    Remove dough from mixer and place in a bowl. Cover and let rise for 20 minutes in a 200°F oven that has been preheated and then turned off.

    Divide the risen dough into two equal parts, then each part into six equal parts (for a total of 12 rolls or 24 if doubled).

    Place the dough balls onto a baking sheet and let rise again for 30 minutes in the same oven.

    Bake in a 375°F oven for 23 minutes, or until golden brown.

    Brush with butter and sprinkle with salt. Serve immediately or freeze for later use.
