Directions
1
Place a large skillet over medium-high heat and add 1/2 tablespoon of olive oil.
2
Add 1/2 of a finely diced yellow onion and stir for about 30 seconds.
3
Add 2 pounds of lean ground beef and break it up into small pieces using a firm spatula.
4
Season with 1 teaspoon of salt, 1 teaspoon of black pepper, and 1 teaspoon of garlic powder.
5
Continue sautéing until the beef is just cooked through; then turn off the heat and spoon out any excess fat or liquid.
6
With the heat off, stir in 1/4 cup of real mayonnaise.
7
Shred 6 ounces of medium cheddar cheese on the large holes of a box grater.
8
Cut a 24-pack of dinner rolls in half with a long serrated knife.
9
Butter the bottom of a rimmed baking sheet, place the bottom half of the dinner rolls on it, and line the cut side of the bread with sliced cheese.
10
Spread the ground beef mixture evenly over the sliced cheese, using a spatula to straighten off the edges.
11
Cover that ground beef with 6 ounces of shredded cheddar cheese.
12
Place the top half of the buns over the cheese, brush the tops with 2 tablespoons of melted butter, and sprinkle generously with sesame seeds.
13
Bake on the center rack of the oven at 350°F for about 15 minutes, or 18 minutes if refrigerated beforehand, or until the cheese is melted.
14
Cut the sliders along the rows of buns.
