Directions

    Pour half a gallon of heavy whipping cream into a KitchenAid stand mixer bowl.

    Attach the whisk to the mixer and start mixing on high speed.

    Once the cream separates into butter and buttermilk, stop the mixer.

    Remove the butter from the beaters and place it in a separate bowl.

    Pour the buttermilk into a jar.

    Knead the butter to remove excess buttermilk.

  7. 7.

    Wash the butter by kneading it in several changes of cold water until the water runs clear.

    Add salt to the butter and knead it in.

    Put the butter into a container for storage.
