Directions

    In a stand mixer bowl, combine 1/2 of the warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let proof for 5 minutes until foamy.

    Add the remaining water, honey, flour, salt, and room temperature butter to the mixer.

    Mix for 6-7 minutes until the dough is smooth and pulls away from the sides of the bowl.

    Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and let it double in size (about an hour).

    Lightly flour your work surface. Turn the doubled dough onto the surface and divide it in half.

    Flatten and shape each dough half into an 8x10 inch rectangle.

    Roll up each rectangle, starting with the short end, and pinch the seam to seal.

    Place each rolled dough into a greased 8x4 inch loaf pan, tucking the ends underneath.

    Cover the loaves and let them rise until doubled again.

    Preheat the oven to 390°F (199°C). Bake the loaves on the lower middle rack for 25-30 minutes, until golden brown.

    Remove loaves from the pans immediately to prevent sticking.

    Brush the tops and sides of the loaves with salted butter.

    Let the loaves cool completely before slicing.
