Directions

  1. 1.

    In a cooker, add 1/2 cup of toor dal, 1.5 inches of water, 1/2 tsp of fenugreek, and 5 cloves of garlic along with a small piece of ginger.

    Close the cooker and let it whistle 3-4 times.

    In a pan, heat 2 tsp of oil, add 1 tsp of mustard, 1 tsp of urad dal and saute until they splutter.

    Add curry leaves and 3 chopped green chillies.

  5. 5.

    Add 5 chopped tomatoes, salt and 1/2 tsp of turmeric powder.

    Mix well and close the lid. Then stir it.

    Add 1 tsp sambar powder and mix well.

    Add the cooked dal and mix well.

  9. 9.

    Add water to adjust the consistency, add 2 pinches of hing and cook for 5 minutes.

    Add coriander leaves.

    Heat 2 tsp oil in a pan, add 1/2 tsp mustard, 1/2 tsp chana dal, and 1/4 tsp cumin.

    Add curry leaves, chopped onions, and saute until the onion turns translucent.

    Add 350 gm of sliced snake gourd, salt, and saute for 2-3 minutes.

    Close the lid, and stir occasionally.

    Add 1/2 tsp chilli powder, 1/2 tsp coriander powder, 1/4 tsp garam masala, and 1/4 tsp turmeric powder.

    Saute until the water dries up.
