    Choose whatever heatproof vessel you want and then stuff it tight with all of your onions.

    Fill your jar with a one-to-one ratio of water and vinegar.

    Add salt and optional sugar to the mix and bring to a simmer.

    Add the hot liquid to your onions along with any spices that you may want and then refrigerate overnight.
